Trumpler is a well-known multinational specialising in chemical products for leather. It began doing business in Spain in 1975.

JOAN BARENYS (GENERAL MANAGER TRUMPLER)
At Trumpler we manufacture and sell all kinds of chemicals for the leather industry: to treat leather from the original material to the final product. It involves marketing more than 500 different SKUs. This large amount of items, along with the lack of space forced us to look for new storage solutions.

Mecalux has responded to the needs of Trumpler by constructing an automated warehouse installation, which combines the small dimensions of the land available with the maximum height allowed.

The result is a warehouse where capacity and control are a priority, with streamlined runtimes and lower costs.

JOAN BARENYS (GENERAL MANAGER TRUMPLER)
A standard warehouse, like we have built here at Trumpler, I think nowadays is economically feasible for most medium-sized companies like ours. For Trumpler, it has been a profitable investment, due to our problem of space availability, but above all profitable on an operations, management and processes level.

Trumpler's fully automated warehouse has two aisles with two stacker cranes circulating in them, with double-deep racking on both sides. In this way, the space occupied by eight single-deep racks is reduced to just two aisles with double-deep racks, maximising the use of space at heights.

Stacker cranes can perform 100 combined cycles/hour, moving 50 incoming and outgoing pallets.

The total capacity achieved is 1,500 pallets both of raw materials and finished product.

This kind of warehouse is ideal for companies that want to automate storage processes as Trumpler did.

Being aware of the availability of a product when we deliver to customers daily, receiving an order in the morning and dispatching it in the afternoon, knowing exactly what you have at any time is perfect.

The automated warehouse includes the Galileo control system and the Mecalux Easy WMS warehouse management software, and both have brought countless advantages to Trumpler.

JORDI ALEMANY (LOGISTICS MANAGER AT TRUMPLER)
Comprehensive stock control, response speed, versatility when making requests and having stock, correct storage, more space available... The Mecalux Easy system allows us to have complete and comprehensive control of each product at all times.

The input and output circuit is incredibly simple. In this area, three processes are performed that ensure optimum operation of the load within the warehouse:

  • A slave pallet protects and supports the load unit. Its size, 1,200 x 1,200 mm, allows the coexistence of different types of pallets
  • Pallets are taken by the conveyor to a wrapping machine, which safeguards the stability of the load.
  • And finally, a pallet checkpoint performs a load inspection checking the weight, dimensions, and condition of the pallets before allowing their entry to the automated warehouse.

Inside the warehouse, a transfer car moves the pallets to the storage aisle assigned by Easy WMS.

The stacker cranes collect the pallets for dispatch, and the transfer car takes them to the corresponding door.

The Easy WMS software informs operators via various screens of the order being prepared and the loading dock it should be issued to.

JOAN BARENYS (GENERAL MANAGER TRUMPLER)
We are extremely satisfied with the implementation of the Mecalux system. At a branding level ― and we think this is crucial ― it allows us to project a modern image to our customers, of development and of always being up-to-date with the latest technology.

This type of installation is distinctive because it can be set up in a short period and with an absolutely reasonable cost for small or medium-sized companies such as Trumpler, ensuring quick, continuous and efficient supply to its customers.
