Mecalux builds in Turkey one of the world’s largest logistics platforms for HAYAT KIMYA

12 Apr 2011

Mecalux has set in motion a new logistics platform for Hayat, a Turkish company headquartered in Izmit dedicated to the manufacture of chemical cleaning, sanitary and personal hygiene products and industry leader in the Turkish and Asian markets. With the objective of streamlining all its available resources and strengthening its ability to compete internationally, the company commissioned Mecalux to build a 12,500 m2 warehouse with 45-m ceilings above its pre-existing 250,000 m2 factory floor equipped with the latest technology in self-sufficient energy generating processes.

Hayat’s new facility will be capable of moving 850 incoming and outgoing pallets per hour, plus carrying out loading and offloading operations to 30 high-tonnage vehicles. This translates into handling over 400 incoming trucks and shipments in a single day. If these forecasts are extrapolated over a month, the Turkish company will be able to move over 500,000 pallets. If placed side by side, the pallets would stretch the equivalent of the distance from Madrid to Barcelona.
